Why photography is a lot like ice cream🍨🍦📷
When I was growing up one of the first things I wanted (after the Easy Bake oven phase) was an ice cream maker. What I didn't realize with my childish desire was the amount of work that went into making ice cream. There were a bunch of steps in the process not to mention how long you had to wait to actually indulge in the sweet treat after spending all the time making it. Every part of the process was worth it though once the end product was within reach.
In a lot of ways photography is the same as making ice cream. It takes time to get something truly great! The entire process is something that intrigues me and inspires me to make the experience even better for everyone involved.
The ‘behind the scenes’ of everything from charging batteries to making sure you have a large enough memory card, take time. People see how quickly an experience happens (and in our world of instant everything) almost forget that like making ice cream, photography is something that takes time too. I want the time I spend with all my clients to be something truly wonderful.
Our art takes time as we sort out all of the images make selections with you and go home to edit. The demands of our world today mean a blog, social media and digital images need be delivered in a timely fashion too.
At the same time, just like the 2-3 hour wait for a delicious sweet treat after all the labor put in after a photoshoot (us photographers have to encourage some wait time for beautiful photos). Just think, much like too much salt could ruin even the simplest vanilla ice cream…too much saturation by working too late on a photo could ruin a gallery of beautifully composed images. There is a balance and a science to our art of photography, much like ice cream too. It is so inspiring and wonderful to be influenced by all the wonderful photographers in the community.
Much like my love of ice cream, I have an unending love for the hard work of photography! Send me an email if this inspires you or you'd like to chat more.
cheers!
P.S. As you scroll you'll see two favorite Instagram photos of my MUST HAVE ice cream, Purple Door endorsed by Vogue as a Milwaukee must have! If that doesn't say awesome I don't know what does (but it sure is something worth waiting in a line down the street for every time).

Purple Door ice cream 🍦 AGAIN mentioned by Vogue magazine for being THAT awesome! I love Milwaukee!
Purple Door 2.0 when the raspberry sauce is in season and in the store. I swear that alone is worth a drive to Milwaukee. Everyone I come across, any chance I get, I recommend Purple Door ice cream. It's THAT exceptional!
